What is Distributed Audio (DA)?

Distributed Audio (DA) turns audience smartphones into part of the sound system. No installation is required — participants scan a QR code and turn up their volume. Instead of sound coming only from the stage speakers, each phone plays synchronized audio, surrounding listeners with sound coming from many directions at once.

Every device plays its own part in the performance, creating an immersive, shared listening experience in which the audience becomes an active part of the sonic environment.

Instructions

  1. Join the performance

  2. Select the piece.

  3. Performer: Create session (main sound device).
    Audience: Join existing session.

  4. Audience scans the QR code.

  5. Audience: turn up the volume. Performer: start playback
